FILM SHOOT

All your film shoots should be up and running by now. If you haven't already filmed some or all of your opening, you should have film the bulk of it before the end of the week. The cameras are due to be returned next Tuesday the 7th of February and I will expect you all to be in this class.

This Friday is also a planned class when I will expect you in with your cameras to upload anything you have filmed and we will review your work.

If you are having any difficulties please see me asap.

FIRST WEEK

Week One

Film Openings:

As you are aware the priority for you during your first week back is to ensure that your preparations for the end of January film shoot are well underway and that you will be able to complete these during the two week shooting window.

You should have very clear ideas of what you are going to film, where, when and how it will look and sound. Storyboards should be complete, casting should be underway, you should all know your locations, have developed lists of props, costumes and make-up requirements, equipment for filming including lights and cameras. I cannot stress strongly enough how vital these preparations are and how positive the effect of them will be on your final product.

On Friday therefore each group will have a 10 minute production meeting with me to run through what they have done and what they need to do before the shoot. After this meeting it will be up to you as time in class will be devoted to the next area of exam preparation.

C1 IMAC BOOKINGS

You are able to work in C1 any afternoon after school except Wed and all the iMacs are bookable. Please see me for further information.

HOME LEARNING

  • This week it will involve two elements:
  1. Completing Film preparations following on from production meeting: all of this to be posted on your film blog - if you do not have access to this you will have to ensure that you do be next week. Blog levels - along with the results of your pre-christmas mock will be given next week. Those whose blogs I cannot access or who have not updated will be marked accordingly.
  2. Film Industry research topic relating to Section B of the exam in which we will be concentrating on the relationship between Audience and Institution in the Film Industry with a focus on UK films. The key texts you will need to study for this are: Media Magazine (remember you can access this using the login previously advised) and the Film Industry section of your course handbook.
